Murata Manufacturing shared its quarterly results of 2022 in November 2022. Murata Manufacturing is a Japanese multinational electronics company and was founded in 1944. Its head office is located in Kyoto, Japan. Murata contributes to the advancement of society and the electronics industry by creating innovative products and solutions. Also, the Japanese electronics giant is the world’s largest producer of multi-layer ceramic chips (MLCCs) with over 40% market share.
Murata’s MLCCs are installed in tons of smartphones in the world. Thus, we can easily imagine that its insights against the smartphone market is very useful. In fact, in the meeting, the company had predicted demand of smartphones from April 2022 to March 2023 was 1.37 billion units. This number is almost the same as the shipment from April 2021 to March 2022.
However, in the meeting in November, the Japanese company mentioned that demand of the smartphone market from April 2022 to March 2023 would be 1.09 billion units. This number will be decreased by 20% compared to the last year. We have already reported the smartphone market is struggling in the second quarter of 2022. Therefore, Murata’s insights support this trend as well.
