Service is more important in manufacturing industry now

NTT DOCOMO’s announcement is not new for us because lots of companies want to improve our driving experience throughout the years. However, we can see one of the megatrends in manufacturing industry from this announcement, which is that services are more important and manufacturing companies pay attention to intangible assets more. In this example, Kenwood Corporation is a manufacturing company and has less capability to create software services than IT companies, as we can easily imagine. Therefore, it is reasonable decision that the Japanese automobile supplier collaborate with the other company that has more expertise in digital and telecommunication area. In addition to this, “DOCOMO Drivers Support” reflects two crucial concepts, which are Service and Connectivity. In order to improve customer experience in automobile sector, we need data are related to driving as well as parking. After gathering data, we need store these data in cyber space such as cloud service and we have to transform those data to new service, probably new solution. Most manufacturing companies are required to keep eye on value creation process like this.
