Maxell becomes the first company to realize mass production of solid-state batteries for industrial robots. Maxell, Ltd., which is commonly known as Maxell, is a Japanese company that manufactures consumer electronics. The company’s name is a contraction of “Maximum capacity dry cell”.
Its main products are batteries, wireless charging products, storage devices, LCD/laser projectors, and functional materials. In the past, the company manufactured recording media, including audio cassettes and blank VHS tapes, floppy disks, and recordable optical discs including CD-R/RW and DVD±RW.
Based on its company presentation about strategy of the entire company in 2022, solid-state battery business is important for it. In the presentation, the company predicted that its revenue would be decreasing. On the other hand, it tried to increase its profit. It means that the Japanese company wants to change its business portfolio. There may be businesses that are withdrawn, and others that the company invests in. That is solid-state battery business.
