Our research correspondent has attended MWC Barcelona in 2019, 2022 and 2023. In MWC Barcelona 2019, one of the hottest topics in the event was a “foldable smartphone”. In fact, Huawei unveiled its first ever foldable smartphone, “Mate X” in the event. Its South Korean rival, Samsung, also exhibited its foldable smartphone, “Galaxy Fold” in the event as well. In fact, there were so many visitors to see and touch these foldable smartphones.
Three years later, more companies exhibited their foldable smartphones in MWC Barcelona 2022. They were Huawei, Samsung, OPPO and Xiaomi. We felt that foldable smartphones were more available and more people would buy and use them in the world. One of the reasons why smartphone manufacturers want to sell their foldable smartphone is the condition of the smartphone market.
