Our research correspondent has attended MWC Barcelona in 2019, 2022 and 2023. When she attended in 2019’s event, one of companies that made her impressive was Huawei. At the time, Huawei had increased the sales of its smartphone. In fact, the company sold more than 200 million smartphones in 2018. Also, this number was increased by more than 30% compared to 2017. In addition, the Chinese company announced its foldable smartphone, which was “Mate X”, in MWC Barcelona 2019.
The company used the largest space of the event and was the company attract visitors the most. That is why she felt Huawei was impressive. However, external environments including the trade war between the US and China have changed the situation a lot. As a result, the Chinese company decided to sell its formerly youth brand, HONOR.
In 2022, she also attended the event again and felt differently. This was because she thought that the presence of Huawei became smaller than in 2019. In addition, she touched its latest smartphones there, but she could not feel any special impressions.
However, Huawei’s booth in 2023 was much more energetic than in 2022. What’s more, our research correspondent touched its newest smartphones as well, and she was surprised. The quality of Huawei’s smartphones is improving.
