HONOR increase its sales in China

In 2020, we reported that Huawei sold off its HONOR brand due to the trade war. At first, HONOR was struggling by its departure from the Chinese telecom giant. In 2019, the shipment of HONOR brand was 70 million and this number accounts for almost 30% of Huawei’s sales. It means that Huawei sold more than 200 million smartphones in the calendar year of 2019.

However, the trade war changed the situation drastically and rapidly. Huawei decided to sell HONOR brand to Shenzhen Zhixin New Information Technology. As a result, even in its home market, the market share of HONOR became 5% in the 1Q of 2021. On the other hand, the market share was 13% in China in the 3Q of 2020. What’s more, more than 8 thousands Huawei’s employees moved to the new company (formerly it was HONOR). They are continuing in charge of Research & Development or Sales.

However, the situation is turning around positively. The company is independent of Huawei so that it can use Android OS. In addition, it produces several original products including V40, 50 and Magic 3. As a result, some analysist predicts that HONOR has more than 10% of its market share in China.

Who is HONOR?

According to its official page, HONOR is a leading global provider of smart devices. The Huawei establish it as its sub-brand in 2013. The company is committing to becoming a global iconic tech brand. In addition, it is enabling a smart life across all scenarios and all channels, for all people. Therefore, the Chinese company focuses on innovation, quality and service.

In fact, HONOR is dedicated to developing technology that empowers people around the globe. Thanks to its R&D, HONOR can expand its capabilities and forward-looking technology. Furthermore, it creates a new intelligent world for everyone with its portfolio of innovative products.

HONOR realizes the incredible numbers through many industry-first technologies and excellent R&D capabilities to support the development of its full portfolio of smartphones and other smart devices. Focus on what we can do

We cannot control our external environment. Therefore, it would be the waste of time if we worry about it too much. In other words, it would be better for us to focus on what we can do. HONOR exactly shows a good example to focus on what it can do. The company cannot control each governments’ policies, but it can manufacture and sell its original products. In fact, the company can take over Huawei’s assets and make use of them.

At the same time, it is also important for us to check how our external environment is changing. In this sense, business intelligence becomes more crucial since uncertainty around us is expanding. Thus, we can learn two important lessons from HONOR’s revival: Focus on what we can do and take advantage of business intelligence.
