EV sales is skyrocketing in Germany in September 2020
According to the data of Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA), which is Federal Motor Transport Authority in Germany, the sales of automobile in Germany in September 2020 was 265,227 and this number is increased by 8.4% compared to September 2019. In addition to this, the sales of Electric Vehicle (EV) in the same country in the same period was 21,188 and this number is increased by 260.3% compared to September 2019. Also, this EV sales figure accounts for 8.0% of market share of the sales in September. Therefore, we can easily say that the sales of EV is skyrocketing in Germany.
What is Electric Vehicles?
According to the American office of energy efficiency & renewable energy, the Electric Vehicle is defined in the following way:
There are two basic types of EVs: all-electric vehicles (AEVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs). AEVs include Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) and Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEVs). In addition to charging from the electrical grid, both types are charged in part by regenerative braking, which generates electricity from some of the energy normally lost when braking. Which type of vehicle will fit your lifestyle depends on your needs and driving habits. Find out which BEVs and PHEVs are available to suit your needs. All-electric vehicles (AEVs) run only on electricity.
Many people think that Climate Change is one of the biggest and critical problems all over the world and there is a strong opinion that we have to use EVs instead of combustion engine cars.
What is Climate Change?
According to The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which is the United Nations body for assessing the science related to climate change, Climate Change is defined in the following way:
A change in the state of the climate that can be identified (e.g., by using statistical tests) by changes in the mean and/or the variability of its properties and that persists for an extended period, typically decades or longer. Climate change may be due to natural internal processes or external forcings, or to persistent anthropogenic changes in the composition of the atmosphere or in land use.
The increase of EV sales is continuing
We can see the same trend in other European countries that EV sales is increasing in Germany. For example, the market share of EV sales in the United Kingdom or France in September 2020 is 6.7% and 5.9%, respectively. Also, it is for the first time that the number of EV sales in the month exceeds 20 thousands in both the UK and Germany. Also, in Norway, which is the highest market share of EV sales in the world, the number was over 60% in the month. If EV sales is continuing in the same way, we could say that EV will become next smartphone in automobile industry.
