Frontrunner to take over

Several media including Automotive News Europe reported that local automotive group QEV Technologies could be a frontrunner to take over Nissan’s plants in Barcelona. In fact, a Chinese automaker, Great Wall Motor, withdrew its interest in the end of 2021.

Catalonia-based engineering group QEV plans to turn the facility into a hub for electric vehicles (EVs). Also, Swedish producers including Inzile and Volta will participate in the project. The Spanish authorities did not have enough time to find a buyer for the plants. This was because Nissan finished operating the plants at the end of 2021.
