Tesla realized the strong growth in Q2 2021

According to its IR Tesla produced 2,340 Model S/X and 204,081 Model 3/Y vehicles in the Q2 of 2021. In addition, the American technology giant delivered 1,890 Model S/X and 199,360 Model 3/Y vehicles in the same period. This is for the first time that Tesla delivered more than 200,000 cars in the single quarter.

Who is Tesla?

According to its homepage, Tesla’s mission is to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy. A group of engineers founded the company in 2003 to realize the world to drive electric. This is because electric vehicles can be better, quicker and more fun to drive than gasoline cars.

What’s more, Tesla builds not only all-electric vehicles but also infinitely scalable clean energy generation and storage products. The company believes the faster the world stops relying on fossil fuels and moves towards a zero-emission future, the better.

Reasons behind the boost

Tesla is increasing its production and delivery due to several reasons. First of all, Tesla is one of most luxurious and famous brand in an Electric Vehicle. Thus, even though their products are still expensive for lower or middle income class, the rich people can purchase them.

Secondly, sustainability or climate action becomes more crucial for everyone in the world. More and more people are experiencing the natural disasters that are probably caused by climate change. Canada’s heat wave or Atami city’s landslide is one of the latest examples.

Therefore, we must take proper actions to make our society more sustainable as soon as we can. As a result, many countries, regions, cities, and even universities declare they will achieve carbon neutral within a few decades. Furthermore, some countries or cities set new regulations to ban a new sales of gasoline or diesel engine vehicles. These regulations become a boon for people to buy electric vehicles more.

Thirdly, the potential of autonomous driving is getting more important. After the pandemic, many advanced country recorded the lowest fertility in 2020 and it means the aged society is accelerating. It possibly causes more car accidents relating to the elderly people. Of course, we can easily say that the elderly people should not drive. However, vehicles are their infrastructure to live in, especially in rural areas. In this sense, autonomous driving can be one of solutions to reduce car accidents.

Tightening race

As we can imagine, China is the most important market for both electric vehicles and other cars. Tesla is without exception. After establishing its Shanghai Gigafactory, the company can increase its production and delivery there. This is also another reason for the success in the Q2 of 2021.

However, the competition in the Chinese EV market soars up. The partnership Baidu, the Chinese technology giant, and Geely, the Chinese automotive giant, is just one example. Also, other automotive manufacturers including Volkswagen and Toyota value the Chinese market.

On the other side, the luxurious automotive brands such as Volvo, Mini and Bentley decide to sell only EVs in the near future. They are also strong competitors with Tesla. Therefore, we can expect that the American company will take further initiatives to win the race.
