OUIGO starts operating in Spain

In May 2021, OUIGO started its service between Barcelona and Madrid. This initiative is impactful on both consumers and another railway company, RENFE. OUIGO is a French low-cost high-speed train service and offers long-distance services on core routes of the French rail network. It is an independent subsidiary of the French national rail company SNCF and also utilizes some of their TGV trainsets. On the other hand, RENFE is the Spanish state-owned freight and passenger trains company.
