Our research representative attended both New York International Auto Show in 2022 and 2023. One of the companies that made him impressive in 2023’s event was Volkswagen. The company emphasized that it is manufacturing its vehicles in the US. The German company tries to increase the sales of its electric vehicles (EVs) and one of its popular EVs is ID.4. Its model was exhibited in New York International Auto Show 2023 and there was a display to explain it. In the explanations, Volkswagen mentioned that ID.4 was assembled in the Tennessee, the US.
He saw the similar display in North American International Auto Show 2022 in Detroit, Michigan. There were several vehicles of Toyota, and the Japanese company explained where each car was assembled in the US. This is because the US government wants to increase the production of many products in the US. Also, the government set a new act, which was Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).
As a result, there was the news in relation to subsidy of purchase of eco-friendly vehicles in the week of April 17th. General Motors, Ford, Stellantis and Tesla are the only four automakers with electric vehicles that qualify for $7,500 in tax credits in 2023. This news was kindly surprising because there was no German, Japanese and South Korean automotive companies. Many experts criticize this decision since it is too protectionism.
