The deal between Google and Fitbit is going to be approved in 2020

According to the several media, it seems that the regulators are going to approve the deal that Google, which is the subsidiary of Alphabet, Inc., will acquire the wire-less wearable technology products company, Fitbit. Of course, there are several concerns including the possibility that the tech giant possibly make use of our health data for the advertisement. However, there are already similar issues between Apple’s products such as iPhone and Apple watch and their services. Therefore, our moral, knowledge and attitude are more important in order not only to use these products but also to enjoy future technological innovation.

Who is Fitbit?

According to the company’s Homepage, Fitbit is “We’re a passionate team dedicated to health and fitness who are building products that help transform people’s lives. While health can be serious business, we feel it doesn’t have to be. We believe you’re more likely to reach your goals if you’re encouraged to have fun, smile, and feel empowered along the way.” The company was founded in 2007 and its founders thought of sensors and wireless technology as huge opportunities for both business and customer satisfaction in terms of health and fitness.

Human Machine Interface is the key word

As we see before, it is huge opportunity for the tech giants such as Google to gather consumers’ health data. What does this trend mean? One aspect is that interfaces between human beings and products become more important for not only home appliances companies but also software companies. For instance, a smart speaker, which is able to detect our voices and realizes what we want, should be equipped with voice assistant system. In this sense, an interface between ourselves and smart speakers can be the next important sphere.

Connectivity is one of the key concepts in 2020s

After the arrival of the Internet, there are some buzzwords that are related to the connectivity such as the Internet of Things, the Internet of Everything, and Smart Home. Thanks to technological advancements, we can digitize our physical activities, which means that we can understand our way of life by checking THE data. For example, we can easily check how many steps we walk everyday by using smartphone app. After digitizing our physical activities, we can connect them to other data, and this concept based on the connectivity. Home appliance companies such as Fitbit are not the last company to make use of this concept and we might not be free from this megatrend.
