Dreem raised 35 million USD in 2018

According to the business wire, Dreem, a neurotechnology company, announced the closing of a new round of funding, raising $35 million USD to accelerate product development, invest in strategic research and development, and advance the future of sleep technology in 2018. It goes without saying that we, human being, spend almost one third for our sleep every day. Therefore, we could say that getting better sleep is one of the biggest human health issues.

Almost one third US adults did not take enough sleep

According to the data from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 35% US adults experienced lack of sleep in 2014. Also, the same data reveals that people who did not sleep well (less than 7 hours) were likely to report 10 chronic health conditions such as Asthma, Arthritis and Depression compared to people who took enough sleep.

Who is Dreem?

According to the company’s Homepage, Dreem is “Based in New York and Paris, the Dreem team is made up of 90 experts in different fields (clinical research, therapy, engineering, design…). We are united by a common goal: Creating great tools to help sleepers everywhere.” The company also defines its 8 unique skillsets such as engineering, design, clinical research, analytics, electronics, care, marketing and R&D, respectively.

Based on HP or other media, Dreem is a sleep device that monitors, analyzes, and claims to improve quality of our sleep. The headband can monitor the quality of our sleep and use sound to help fall asleep faster, get deeper sleep, and wake up at the optimal time through smart alarm.

Connectivity is one of the key concepts in 2020s

After the arrival of the Internet, there are some buzzwords that are related to the connectivity such as the Internet of Things, the Internet of Everything, and Smart Home. Thanks to technological advancements, we can digitize our physical activities, which means that we can understand our way of life by checking THE data. For example, we can easily check how many steps we walk everyday by using smartphone app. After digitizing our physical activities, we can connect them to other data, and this concept based on the connectivity.

Therefore, Dreem is no exception. The device will be able to gather the quality of our sleep through its headband device so that we will be monitored and analyzed. This is the true example of the connectivity.
