Metaverse

Our research correspondent has attended both CES and MWC Barcelona in 2023. One of the major differences between two events is metaverse. Metaverse is proposed network of immersive online worlds experienced typically through virtual reality or augmented reality. Users would interact with each other and purchase goods and services, some of which would exist only in the online world.

In fact, “Metaverse” has been one of the hottest topics in the technology world. For example, Facebook rebranded its corporate identity to Meta in October 2021. Also, the US tech giant announced that it planned to invest at least $10 billion in the concept that year. In addition to Meta, tech giants including Google, Microsoft, Nvidia and Qualcomm are also investing billions of dollars in the concept. McKinsey & Company has predicted that the metaverse economy could reach $5 trillion by 2030.

Companies have presented the concepted ideas, products and services that are not available at the time in trade shows. In other words, companies have made use of trade shows to advocate the concepts that they want to realize in the future. In this sense, we can see latest trends in the next few years there. That is why we have attended them.
